I regret to inform the membership of the passing of Brother Eugene Kelly on Friday, January 3, 2020.
Born September 4, 1960 in New Jersey, Gene attended the University of Scranton, where he honed his skills in the broadcasting field, eventually being recognized for excellence in his camera and post production work.
Eugene became a member of IBEW 1212 in 1987 working for the News division at the CBS Broadcast Center as a freelancer. He also worked for MSG Networks, CBS Sports and Fox Sports in the field over the course of his career.
Eugene is survived by his wife Kristine, his mother Audrey, as well as siblings, nieces and nephews.

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Brother Gerald T. Jaick. Gerald died on Friday, January 3rd.
Born October 1, 1943, Gerald had a passion for broadcasting. He attended Manhattan College before starting his broadcasting career at WABC. In the Fall of 1967, Gerald joined CBS in the Technical Operations Department. He worked at CBS until 2001, spanning five decades. He was admired by many and respected by everyone. God bless Gerald and the entire Jaick family during this difficult time.

It is with deep regret that I inform you of the passing
of Brother Malcolm Barnard. Malcolm passed away on September 29, 2019.
Malcolm joined IBEW 1212 in 1984 working as an Engineer
for PIX11 in NY. In 1988, he moved over to CBS News as an Editor in the
Broadcast Center spanning 30+ years of employment. He worked out of the Hard
News Center, supporting various news shows (CBS THIS MORNING, CBS EVENING NEWS
& CBS SUNDAY MORNING). Assistant Business Manager Joe Palumbo described
Malcolm as “a hard worker, who conquered any task he was given.”
IBEW and CBS News has lost a dear friend. A memorial
service to pay respects will be sometime in November. You can also click on

It is with deep sorrow that I inform you of the passing of Brother Daniel Letostak on September 29, 2019.
He became a member of IBEW 1212 in 2010 serving on both the Fox and CBS National contracts. His loyalty and dedication were surpassed by none. I will truly miss Danny and the life lessons he still teaches us today. We have lost a great friend and Brother.
Danny is survived by his daughter Dawn, son Lewis and daughter-in-law Gioanna and grandchildren Aiden and Kayla.

The IBEW lost 21 members at the World Trade Center. (4) IBEW 1212 members & (17) Brothers from IBEW Local Union 3.
We remember our IBEW Brothers who gave their lives on September 11, 2001.
The (4) Brothers of Local 1212 were Gerard Coppola of WNET-TV, Steven Jacobson of WPIX-TV, Robert Pattison and Isaias Rivera, both of CBS.
1. Steven Jacobson became a member of IBEW 1212 in 1979.
Steven was an engineer for WPIX- TV and worked in a room on the 110th floor of 1 World Trade Center tending to the station’s transmitter on that fateful day. Steven was also present for the World Trade Center bombing in 1993. Steven was 53.
2. Isaias Rivera became a member of IBEW 1212 in 1985.
As a technician, Isaias worked the 110th-floor television transmission center atop the north tower. He was a maintenance engineer at the CBS transmitter of One World Trade Center. He was employed by CBS for 30 years and was also present for 1993 World Trade Center bombing. He had been there on Feb. 26, 1993, when a bomb went off in the basement desperately trying to keep WCBS on the air. Isaias was 51 years old.
3. Gerard “Rod” Coppola of New Providence, died inside the World Trade Center following the Sept. 11 terrorists’ attacks. He worked on the 101st floor of One World Trade Center.
Gerard joined the local in 1985. Mr. Coppola was a broadcast engineer for WNET. He attended Brookdale Community College in Lincroft. Gerard was 46.
4. Robert Edward Pattison, of New York City was employed by CBS. Robert was only a member of 1212 for a little over a year when 9/11 struck. Rob was on the 110th floor of the World Trade Center’s North Tower tending transmitters for WCBS-TV. Robert was 40 years old when he died.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, It is with deep sorrow that I inform you of the passing of Brother Elliot Greenblatt. Elliot passed away April 19, 2019 at the age of 89. His career In broadcasting spanned more than half a century, during which time he served both the IBEW and CBS with honor and integrity. Throughout his 52 year tenure at CBS, he worked on numerous award winning shows for news, sports and entertainment. He was a stalwart support of Local 1212, serving on the Executive Board, as a Shop Steward and on negotiating committees. I am thankful to have known him and for his dedication to Local 1212. I will miss his friendship and his guidance. Elliot is survived by his wife Lilly, his son Gregg, daughter Mara and four grandchildren. May God bless Elliot Greenblatt. He will be truly missed.

It is with sadness that I report the news of the untimely passing of one of our Brothers- David Zarkower.
David was born Dec. 29, 1961 in Norwalk, C.T. to Bruno and Harriet Zarkower. David’s work spanned four decades in our business. He started out in 1985 with Madison Square Garden working NBA and NHL games. He was an EVS Operator working for CBS Sports since the mid 1990’s assisting on the NFL, NCAA and the US Open Tennis as well.
David was also self-employed earning a degree from NY Institute of Technology. Many members have already reached out showing support to David’s family. If you or anyone else wish to pay respects to David; the following services are set for tomorrow and through the weekend.
David is survived by his wife Lisa, two sons Brenden and Alec, his father Bruno, sister Lori Seuch and brother Johnathon Zarkower. Rest in peace, my Brother.
